The Dutch Empire is the name given to the various territories controlled by the Netherlands from the 17th to the 20th century. The Dutch Empire included in different continents too. The Dutch traded with a lot of different countries like Cape Town, Brazil, Demerara, Essequibo, Suriname, New Netherlands, and the East Indies. The Dutch as their are trading with the different lands they are also trying to conquering it too and this made the Dutch powerful.
In this map it shows the Dutch trading routes. The Dutch were the greatest commercial national of the seventeenth century because the Dutch traded with a lot of different countries to get resources like in Northern of Africa, South of Africa, South of Asia,Northern of South America and Northern of North America.
The goods that the Dutch receive from other countries were tobacco, sugar, slaves, wool, wine, herrings, timber, tar, pitch, iron, copper, fur wheat, rye, cloves, cinnamon pepper, tea tank, spices, sandalwood, camphor, silk, porcelain and luxury goods. The trading made the Dutch powerful and successful.
Indonesian Nationalist Movement
The Indonesian nationalist movement started in the nineteenth century. At first the Indonesian were ruled by the Dutch since 1603. But then the Sakerat Islam, which is an Islamic Union established in 1912 set a mission to free the Indonesian from the Dutch and in 1916 the Sakerat established another group name the Volksraad. The Volksraad selected a large population of representatives to offer advice to the government. This helped the Indonesian to be free and to be national.
